Weather

Pretty warm temps below treeline in the AM but still a decent freeze overnight. Winds gusting to 40mph above treeline keeping the surface snow conditions firm. Clearing skies and above freezing temps in the afternoon.

Snowpack

Firm, chalky skiing conditions in the SE facing Corral couloir. The wind and elevation of the Corral kept surface snow conditions from softening. Boot packing up the Ded Elk by 1130 yielded completely different surface snow that was already quite soft with a boot pen about 20cm deep. Signs of rollerballs and small loose wet avalanche activity below cliff bands. There was no wind in the DE Couloir. Upper 1/3 of the couloir after the rock choke surface snow was firmer due to wind.
