Snowpack

Column Tests are revealing a Stubborn snowpack, but it's still a bit spooky out there. Drummy sounding slab under skis in most spots but variable. Shallow snow was either all facets or small wind slab over facets near rocks and grassy areas. Total depth in the area was around 105 cm. Small wind slab sitting over previous soft storm snow on top. Wind Slab under this combo comprised most of the snowpack down to about 25 cm from ground. Ground up to the Wind Slab was Facets and some small Depth Hoar near the ground. Probing in many spots revealed the hard slab was sitting over small deeper weak layer near the ground.

Avalanche

Previously reported slide from 1.17.22 HS-AKu-R3-D3-O avalanche triggered by a snow cat building roads.
