Snowpack

Professor: 3cm of new snow on top of a 1cm melt-freeze crust that caps a pencil hard slab. Faceted grains below the slab sit on top of 1F rounds at the bottom of the snowpack. HS 63cm with moderate ECTP results at the slab/facet interface. See pit profile for more detail. Boy Scout: HS more generally in the 45cm range, and faceting is weakening the slab that exists here.

Avalanche

A few small loose dry avalanches were observed out of steep, rocky areas above treeline. All were D1 or smaller.
