Snowpack

11,600' Elevation, Greg Mace Peak, NW aspect 150cm depth 50cm basal facets 10cm pencil/knife layer, 25 cm below the surface Thin dust layer only 1-2" below the surface We chose not to ascend above 11,600' as the slope went from 29 degrees to considerably steeper and the snowpack appeared equally as deep nearly to the ridge. The slope felt unconsolidated and the pit confirmed that. Pole basket was able to penetrate the 10cm hard layer with only a couple of strong stabs.
