Smutwood Peak

Went up Smutwood Peak today. Snow conditions were mostly wind hammered sastrugi save for sheltered areas. Weather was warm but thankfully not too warm, -9c to start, -4c at the summit, ending at 2c at the car. Windy day but didn't witness much snow transport (I guess concrete snow doesn't blow around much) Tons of wind affect all over. Didn't find anything suspicious in the snowpack today but was still skeptical so we kept as low angle as possible which was surprisingly doable for most of this tour which kept us going. The entire summit ridge is windblown and I hit rock with my crampons on every step. Didn't see any signs of recent natural activity but that 3.5 at Chester area today is scary. Be safe.
