Log Cabin Mtn, north aspect. Avalanche observation: large slide with a wide crown, failure up high in the bowl. Debris observed way down close to the base of the mountain. Slide path approx. 600 m long and branching into several gullies; debris also observed on the ribs in between. Appeared to be a few days old. We mostly stayed on slopes under 20 deg. Several whumpfing while traveling up and across. Layer of facets 70 cm down is reactive (pop with shoulder tap in a compression test). Clear skies, light wind and around -15°C.
