A great day of ski touring up to the Mt Cleveland Glacier. YAAFRA / Fraser HS 85cm at the highway weather plot. Weather: High -7 low -11. Light SW winds. Clear skies with valley fog in the afternoon. No snow transport. Avalanche observations: Numerous sz 1 - 3 natural cornice, storm slabs, wind slabs, loose snow avalanches on steep north facing slopes between 1100m - 1850m. One size 3 had stepped down to ground. Isolated point releases on steep south aspects in the afternoon. Snowpack observations: Average HS 135cm. On the glacier (1700m) HS 265cm. Ski pens 10cm. Boot pen 30cm. Travel hazard observations: Cornices have been growing and a large right now! Creeks are still open.
