made it about halfway through the crux choke on grand daddy, then coverage got thin so we transitioned. bottom 2/3 of the couloir had small pockets of a slightly denser 20-30cm layer buried under 10-30cm of unconsolidated snow. Did not consistently fail on hand shears. observed small amounts of sluff coming off some of the walls lower down. also observed a skier triggered 0.5 avy in the pillow field just outside the treeline. bootpacking the bottom 1/3 turned more into trenching, the top 2/3 had much better bootpacking conditions. Amazing riding in the couloir and in the lower slopes outside the exit.
