Vermilion Crossing

Had a fun day in the Vermilion Crossing area. The snow was soft powder on top of a harder layer about 10cms down. There was some isolated wind affect too, those north winds did not do us any favours. Starting temp was -27C, with the ending temp around -3C!! (Should be noted the snow did not seem to be reacting to this temp change yet) While ski quality was good, the newer snow was running fast in steeper terrain with a little skier input. There was some fast sluffing (loose-dry) coming out of steeper terrain today (35-40) which required some managing while skiing, however it was running faster than expected farther down the slope. Not sure if this was new wind deposit or storm snow, but something worth noting for those looking to step into steeper terrain in the area!
