Dug pit at 2265m elevation, 14.11hr, NW facing before the col. Sunny conditions, approx -5C. 2m snow total. 0cm to ~50cm significantly faceted, basically junk sugar. Rain crust just above at about 55cm that is very easy to break through when stepped on directly (we fell through when digging pit). 55cm to 165cm very consistent, consolidated and stable layer; very uniform. 170cm to 200 cm generally new snow. There is a very, very slight rain crust in the 170-190 range. Carried out multiple tests to try to generate failures. No failures, not even after digging out the faceted layer. The 55cm to 165cm layer is holding well, at least in this area. Very high quality skiing was had.
