Today we went up to Kispiox. We found a shallow snowpack with an average of 1m at treeline (around 1500m). Below 1200m, the snowpack depth tapers rapidly. On the lee side of a treeline ridge, we found a previous size 1 machine accidental avalanche. To our surprise, a damaged snow-machine was left behind in the debris. The crown was 60cm deep and failed on facets above the early-Dec crust. We dug a crown profile and found facets between 2-3mm in size, down 60cms. The facet layer is nearly 10cm thick, below this we found the early-Dec crust.
