Snowpack
24” or so inches of new snow. Few inches of breaking down old snow below the new snow on north and east aspects. Observed collapsing in the snow throughout the day with a few cracks on north through east aspects around 30 degrees.
Avalanche
R1 D1 wind slab on north northeast aspect near top of ridge around 11,400 feet elevation. Estimated slope angle in start zone 35-38 degrees. Remotely triggered by group of 3 snowmobilers in a meadow below roughly 500 yards away around 1:45 pm. Crown estimated 2-3 feet deep. Snow failed on new/old snow interface. Another large fracture observed on same ridge estimated 75 yards west, but nothing more than a fracture.
