Weather
Warm and mostly sunny all day. 58F at 10:00 AM at the trailhead with cloud coverage varying between Scattered and Few throughout the day. Moderate winds at ridgeline with Strong gusts and no snow transport.
Snowpack
Below 9,000 feet all aspects were wet throughout the snowpack including northerly aspects. Southerly and east-facing slopes remained wet from the surface to the ground up to about 12,000 feet. North-facing slopes above about 9,500 feet remain dry except for the top 10cm of moist to wet snow. Above 10,000 feet northwest-facing slopes had a supportable crust with a ski penetration of 0 to 2cm. Extended column tests showed propagating failures across a moist to wet layer of old facets on 5 to 10 taps below the treeline. On slopes where the persistent weak layer was still dry (northerly slopes) extended column tests were getting propagating failures in 15-20 taps.
Avalanche
Numerous Loose Wet avalanches from yesterday and today as well as a slab avalanche from yesterday and two from the past week.
