Snowpack

On NE to N aspects near treeline, 2-3" of new snow has been redistributed into shallow, unreactive slabs up to 8" thick. In some places I could get cracks no longer than my skis, but over all this new slab seemed unreactive and well bonded to the old snow surface. I dug on an east aspect near treeline that has been favored by wind loading. The snow depth was around 145cm, with the upper snowpack under today's new snow consisting of alternating layers of firm wind board and facets. ECTN results on one of these faceted layers about 25cm below the surface.
