Weather

Very solid freeze at Ashcroft last night. Warmed up quickly when the sun came out. Flagging on high peaks by late morning.

Snowpack

Patches of sun crust and patches of cold snow on the skin up through the trees. Once we got to the saddle at 11,500 there was some wumphing on north and northwesterly aspects.

Avalanche

Large natural avalanche on leahy, as seen in the picture. Also, couldn’t get a good picture of it but there was a shallow but wide crown on a convexity between the most skier’s right tree alley and the ridge line. (Low, probably 11,800) It looked like just the storm snow went, but it was at least 30-40 feet wide. No tracks visible so it looked like it went naturally. Attached a map screenshot since I don’t think I described that location well at all....
