Weather

By afternoon on the pass, the weather got rude, with sustained moderate winds, gusting to strong, out of a variety of flip-flopping directions, but predominately from the North/Northwest. Snowfall was S2, with a HST around 8" by sunset. Wind was redistributing snow below treeline in all but the most sheltered places, and while new snow remained soft, it was variable in its distribution with scoured areas and 14" drifts adjacent.

Snowpack

The stout melt-freeze crusts that formed early in the week seem to be fairly well bonded to the new snow. Rapid change towards melt-freeze regime in the last week.

Avalanche

No avalanches, cracking or collapsing.
