Weather

Beautiful San Juan day. Warmed quickly under sunny skies, even after overnight temps in the single digits.

Snowpack

With little recent loading, the snowpack is relatively stable. However, the structure remains weak, and it just needs a heavy load to get things moving. For now, weak interfaces are largely unreactive to human pressure. Pit tests continue to show the weakest structure and propagating failures on southeasterly terrain above treeline (see snowpit in images section). The sun is getting palpably stronger and we are all feeling the solar shift towards spring. The snowpack remains wintry though, except on low elevation southerly slopes. Cornices have visibly grown on a variety of aspects and will need to be watched as temperatures rise.
