Weather
Mild temps, calm winds and mostly clear sky made for a very pleasant day in the mountains.
Snowpack
The snow surface is tired. Winds have damaged most all surfaces above treeline leaving a breakable wind crust, sastrugi or bulletproof wind board. Below about 11,000 feet northwest through north to east facing slopes consist of mostly F hard facets to the ground. No slab on it yet. New snow may not bond well to the old slick surface on southerly facing slopes. Northerlies have weak snow at the surface and this interface will be where initial failures take place in the coming days as storm snow adds up late Saturday/Sunday.
