Snowpack
In general, the snowpack in these below-treeline paths was stronger than what I have found in the Red Mountain Pass and Cement Creek areas in the past week. All paths had a solid, right-side up snow pack 100-150 cm deep, with 6-12" of DF and FCsf at the surface, and 1f->P hard rounds and rounding facets below this. No significant results from snowpack tests. The biggest concern with the upcoming event will be the old/new interface and slides within the storm snow. Some interesting cracks have opened up on Engineer A (see photo), but closer investigation revealed no signs of instability on the slope, and no significant results from tests in a nearby profile.
