Hi there. I just spent 12/29 and 12/30 touring on Berthoud Pass. I dug two pits both on S/SE aspects of Current Creek at 11,450 feet. First pit was 50cm deep and had no depth hoar. Second pit was 70cm deep with 25cm of depth hoar at the bottom, but it was unreactive at ECTN 30 @ 45cm deep. It seemed as though a 1 finger hardness layer just above the depth hoar may have acted as a bridge. Also, surface hoar formed on the night of 12/29-12/30. It was most evident below and near treeline, but I saw a little bit of it above treeline. Again, this was all in the Current Creek area on the North side of Berthoud Pass.
