Frozen Sammies

Serving you frozen sammies with a side of hot tea on a bed of wind stiffened snow in the Crowsnest today. The good news was it was warmer than anticipated, only -17 with light westerly winds. The bad news is that most open areas in the bowl we visited had stiff wind affected snow from previous variable winds. We didn’t see any recent avalanches, and were not getting any shooting cracks or propagation in our snowpack tests at treeline, but the skiing was uninspiring. About 70 cm of low density snow fell in the Christmas storm…if you can find some sheltered terrain not touched by recent wind it should make for fun riding.
