Good travel conditions out to WaWa Ridge and back today, thanks to a melt-freeze crust just above the ground that supports your skis while traveling. Snowpack is 40-60 cm deep and has a couple of weak layers in the lower half which are producing avalanches at the ski hill. We were surprised to find surface hoar in our profile. But the ski penetrative was ankle deep soft pow with no wind effect on the surface so the skiing was good, but tentative early season.
