Avalanche

Two snowboarders triggered a slide on a bench in the Current Creek Drainage, R4 D2 110cm SE aspect, estimated slope of 35 degrees @ 11,000 ft with a crown of approx 110cm. Temps were warming at about noon when the first snowboarder descended to a rock outcropping/predetermined safety zone, after riding a line off of the NW shoulder of Russell Peak earlier then skinning back up to the bench at 11,000ft elevation. While ski cutting the slope, the slab broke and the snowboarder was able to reach the intended safety zone while the Avalanche ran its course.The snowboarder then descended the debris and met with the partner who descended from above down the debris path as well. Prior to skiing, snow pit test results had revealed a persistent week layer at 110cm, CTN Q3 @ 110cm. The two skinned up and skied out Second Creek drainage. Aspect: SE Elevation: Above treeline
