7# ANFO suspended on aerial tram produced a HS-AB-R2D2-I along the breakover with an average depth of 75 cm. Subsequent 2# charge placed on the snow to clean up hang fire closer to the Cirque Cornice produced a HS-AE-R2D2-O that stepped down into older wind slab and propagated into the bed surface of the Cirque HW avalanche and well uphill. This "corner pocket" of the Cirque Headwall cross loads with W wind, is quite steep and was not opened or controlled yesterday due to high winds and poor visibility. It had been regularly maintained up until yesterday with instabilities confined to shallow wind slabs at the break over.
