Weather

Clear to Few clouds. Winds were light from NW to N, with no snow transport. Temps were mild.

Snowpack

Wind affected surfaces around most of the terrain; mix of hard slab, wind crust, firm to soft sastrugi, and dense powder. Mid-Low elevation sunny slopes became moist. Investigated crowns from yesterday's slides on W ATL terrain, failure layers were a mix of rounding facets on crusts or facets at the ground.

Avalanche

Quick control route cleaned out half of the Castle Valley hangfire with a 6lb airblast. HS-AB-R2-D2-O on West ATL. A few of the other hangfire pieces in that area didn’t budge with 6lb airblasts, but some cracking.
