Snowpack

Winds recorded around Aspen and Gunnison finally made there way to the Raggeds today. Wind slabs were forming on N and E aspects near treeline. Exposed areas near ridges had a crust about 1-2" thick, and the wind was working to consolidate snow lower on these slopes. Surface layers were FCsf and DF grains, and were a little stiffer than earlier in the week. N face of Justice 11,500 feet, held a 4f+ wind slab about 30 cm thick, that extended a couple hundred feet down the slope. This slab was concerning, but not reactive, some isolated cracking was noted, a couple ski cuts on drifts and cornice features did not produce results.
