Weather

Sunny Day with light to moderate winds from the North West. Melting was happening on the surface of the snow below tree line but was staying frozen in the shaded areas. Above tree line there was some softening of the surface but was not melting.

Snowpack

The snow was about 190 cm deep. There were 2 noticeable weak layers at the dust level and another one about 40cm down below the surface. with the dust layer about 15 cm. below the surface. It took a lot of effort to get the slab to break during a shovel sheer test but when the block broke it jumped off and was pretty clean. It broke at the bottom layer. The dust layer collapsed during the compression test after 3 hits form the elbow.
