Snowpack

Snowpack on N-E aspects at the top of the bowl was around 30-40 cm deep. The snow surface was 3 cms of PP from light snow the night of 11.30, showing signs of rounding. Below these was a thin, fragile m/f crust. Underneath this was mostly facets, but a 20 cm thick slab was still present from the 11.22 event. The slab was faceting but still 4 f. Below this was all facets and depth hoar with a M/F crust sandwiched between the 11.16 snow and older snow at the ground. Tests showed that the slab was still reactive, and failed on the mid-pack facet layer and the ground- ECTP 11 SC Q1 on the 11.16-11.22 interface. As you went down in elevation, the hiehgt of snow quickly diminished and changed to all facets. Below 9,000 ft a M/F crust could be found on all aspects. Southerly aspects had a lot of melting. Snow cover was thin and inconsistent even at 9,500 ft. The south facing side of Lone Tree bowl was mostly bare ground. Ditto for Huntsman's Ridge below 10,000 ft.
