Ok, maybe not epic... No locusts, no plague of frogs, but really a great day out. 40-60cm of snow at treeline, supportive to skis and fantastic ski quality. A few shrubs and rocks sticking out, no cracking or whumphing, no natural activity noted. We opted to ski out the up track as the moraine looked lean. If you head to Hilda right now, your probably going to have a good time.
