Started walking in runners at 09:00 1250m, skinning at 09:40 1400m. Melt freeze from Sunday as expected, bulletproof becoming breakable at around 1620m. Fast easy skinning apart from the handful of creek crossings. Transitioned at 12:00 1880m, probed 80-160cm. Ski conditions were challenging. Variable ski penetration with some sections of supportive crust with trace fresh, some semi-frozen mashed potatoes and some isothermal pockets. Weather was a mix of sun and fog, no thermometer onboard but forecasted freezing levels of 1250m going to 1500m felt about right. Good day to get out on skis and get a feel for conditions but not for ski quality!
