Weather

High winds and whiteout conditions. Winds were steady at the predicted ~25 mph for at least the five hours my group was there. Visibility never seemed to exceed 100 or 200 feet and would drop to ~20 feet at times.

Snowpack

A quarter inch thick wind crust had formed at most locations regardless of aspect. It wasn't blower powder everywhere, but some great skiing could still have been had. In parts the only snow was the recent storm deposit, but elsewhere drifts were at least thigh deep. My party could not assess the snow on James Peak as navigation was too difficult.

Avalanche

None observed.
