Sunny and warm West facing 9,800 ft.

Snowpack

Heavy snowfall of heavy snow over most of previous week then 2-3 days clear. slope may have been almost bare due to exposure prior to last snowfall because it went all the way to the ground

Avalanche

slide was triggered by first snowmobile, caught and carried 2nd rider and partially buried his machine. He was able to keep from being buried but said it took tremendous effort as he could feel the rolling action below the surface pulling him like going over a wave crest. The snow was very heavy and compacted around the machine and took better part of an hour to dig it out.
