Snowpack

Recent warm daytime temperatures and cold nights have transformed the snowpack near and below treeline. Sunny slopes receiving any direct or oblique sun exposure developed melt freeze crusts since last week. Alpine temperatures have remained cool enough to hold all but south facing slopes in winter mode. Deep slabs sitting on weak facets were in both pit locations at 13,000'+ on southeast and northeast aspects. Last week's winds, scoured, stripped, deposited and shaped nearly every aspect above treeline.
