Weather

Intermittent light clouds and sunshine. Cold winds were blowing from the southwest, and we could see plumes of snow on Treasury and other mountain at Paradise Divide. It was really cold.

Snowpack

One whumpf heard at valley floor. Observed some point-release slides on far skier's right of the west bowl. No other avalanche activity observed throughout the tour. We did debate whether one sound we heard was a whumpf or a bomb from the ski area. We dropped in a couple hundred feet below the summit, but a couple hundred feet above yesterday's skiers. Snow cover in the bowl was thin up high, and we were able to punch to the rocks. A little cracking on the top windslab layer, but it didn't move or propagate. Lower down we were skiing fresh snow on a crust. Good skiing. A little more snow and time will help this area.
