Snowpack
Old Snowpack composed of facets with very hard melt-freeze crust overlain by 2 feet of powder from recent storm. Unclear if new snow was wind affected, the upper portion was not.
Avalanche
location: 37°42'50.72"N 107°46'9.84"W Soft storm slab. aspect: 170 melt-freeze crust from before recent storm acted as bed surface. crown: 24 inch height, 25 foot width, 30 foot long flank. Skier in party triggered slide during turn, detachment propogated approx. 20 feet above skier to a convex rollover. Slab avalanche initiated on slope estimated at 38-42 degrees, propogated upwards to convex rollover. Slope above crown was approx. 35 degrees did not slide. Skier skied out of runout zone before slide affected him (wasn`t aware of trigger until others in party told him)
