Snowpack

South facing slope of 26% The total snow depth was 420 cm. We dug a pit down to 110 cm deep. Top 40 cm was new snow. Below was a 10 cm layer of ice. 10 cm of fist soft snow. then 4 cm of ice. CCT- 29 breaking on 4 cm layer of ice. Shovel sheer- light force broke on 10 cm ice layer. hard force broke the next block at 4 cm layer. We also skied the widow maker line down to US 6. On a steep section about 2/3's of the way down, we saw a small skier caused sluff slide. Only the top portion of the new snow slid. It was about 20 feet wide at 5-7 inches deep. it ran for 400 vert.
