Word on the street is chickadee valley wasn't it today. We tend to disagree. We headed up into some alpine north aspects. Some hollowness observed in north facing treeline paths with a rotten feeling to the base. As we entered the alpine the surface slab became far more prominent with shooting cracks and some sluff running off steep slopes above us. Ended up pulling the pin well below any exposed ridgeline after getting multiple test results in the easy and moderate range in both soft surface slab and deeper wind slab. On the mid elevation and lower slopes had some amazing and deep skiing. Enough to lap many times. Other things to note was multiple debris piles size 1-2 from the last week. Overall not easy decision making at all but the skiing is superb if you know where to look. Just don't go following too many skin tracks blindly, they don't always lead to safe places!
