It's not often that I've seen such a thick layer of facets here on the Coast in the past 30 years. From the bottom up the snowpack is a solid block of various crust layers and absolute bomber. On top of that sit 10 cm of facets that run like sugar through your fingers. This is topped by a thin 2 mm temperature crust and 6cm of new snow from last night. This new snow was cold and fluffy in the morning and ended up being thick and heavy by the afternoon. Our groupat 1400 m had a CTE(4) on the facets, a second group at 1500m elevation had the same result, also on a West facing slope. While this layer is of no concern right now due to just 6 cm of new snow on top of it, it should definitely be watched when we get new snow (should winter ever decide to return this year).
