Didn't lose our leg to Whale's Back this time, but we were looking for vengeance after being robbed of the blower pow we were hoping for. Still, surfy turns were had and the day wasn't a total waste. Snowpack investigation indicated there are still monsters out there lurking in the deep (or not-so-deep, with regards to breakable sun crust). Keep yer wits about ya, matey!

Hasty pit revealed 10cm of low-density storm snow (PP sz 1-2, F) atop consolidated facets (FC sz 1-2, 4F-1F) 10-40 cm deep. Feb 14th surface hoar (sz 8-12) was observed 25 cm down and remained intact. This layer noticeably crumbled during digging and hand-hardness tests. The Feb 7th MFcr was noted at approx. 40 cm down, with consolidated facets (sz 1-2, P) below. Jan 28th MFcr was noted ~70cm. Isolated pockets of 1-2 cm sun crust from Feb 20 was observed treeline and below on open, south facing aspects. Crust was less evident at upper elevations.
