Snowpack
See snowpit for details. Dug on east-facing near treeline and found 155 cm snowpack with most concerning layer mid-pack facets 70 cm from surface.---Southerly aspects have a much thinner snowpack and would be more prone to upper snowpack failures.---Snow surface is heavily wind affected above treeline with hard slabs on most slopes. Still some sheltered slopes at the near treeline elevation band and below with a non-wind-affected snow surface. Southerly slopes have firm to breakable surface crusts with very weak faceted snow below.
Avalanche
Several old avalanches noted in First Creek. They could be a couple weeks old. It was difficult to tell. Almost all released from southeast slopes near treeline.
