Snowpack
Below treeline on a sheltered, north facing slope the HS was 60 cm. On these sheltered slope below treeline there was upright, intact 2-3 cm surface hoar under a 1 cm layer of faceted snow. From top to bottom the snowpack was fist hard, and this was evident as we wallowed to find a place to dig. There were still signs of early November's crust, and the bottom of the snowpack has transitioned to depth hoar. Below treeline on a less sheltered slope we found about 45 cm of snow. The top 20 cm was fist hard facets over four finger hard facets. The bottom of the snowpack was made up of fist hard depth hoar. This setup resulted in an ECTN14 that broke at the interface between the fist hard layer and the four finger layer.
