Weather

Variable 30 degrees with periods of snow and periods of sun and blue sky.

Snowpack

6 inches new overnight, about 12 inches in the past 48 hours.

Avalanche

Triggered a new snow avalanche about 6 to 8 inches deep and 50 feet wide. One skier was caught and carried about 200 feet. Buried only up to the knees; luckily, no injuries or lost gear. East-northeast aspect, I believe it was the Z chute, I couldn't tell if it propagated into Y chute or if another party previously triggered Y chute. Appeared to break at the edge of a wind slab.
