Sunny, in the 30s, and windy on exposed ridges. Cooking in the valley.
Snowpack
Wind-blown powder on the ridge approach (12k ft), very variable on the snowfield and elsewhere. Deeper and wet on the southeast-facing slopes of Tyndall. Shallower snow depth on the east-facing slope, but still heavy and wet. Northeast aspect looked icy. Difficult snow to make turns on. Punchy snow in the runouts.
Avalanche
Skiers 1 and 2 skied east east-facing slope in shallower snow. Skier 3 traversed north towards previous avalanche debris and skied down. Skier 4 followed the track of Skier 3. Wind-loaded slope underneath a cliff gave way and carried Skier 4 about 15 to 20 meters. Slow-moving slide, knocked skier off balance and took skier for a ride. Partially buried when the slide came to a stop. The skier was not injured in incident.
