Weather

cool morning to start out, overcast, watched snow fall around us during the day. zero accumulation on anvil between 10 and 2. mostly calm at 11500'.

Snowpack

between 6 inches and 3 feet of snow on w facing ridge at 11000', depending on tree cover, solar and wind exposure. sw had a firm crust. w to nw remains very soft.

Avalanche

widespread whumpfing on sw through nw at 11000'. cracks and collapsing only propagating about 20' diameter around us, most likely connecting tree to to tree. we stayed below 35 degrees. Slopes feel primed right now. we got collapses in areas with previous tracks. Observed three D1.5s on E aspects on Ophir Pass @11000' in Paradise Basin area. Released on windloaded lee ridgetops. most likely a few days old if not more.
