Weather

It was a clear and calm day in the gulch, 20F @ 9:30 a.m. Winds were light and out of the W/NW, with gusts at the ridge top in the 20-25 mph range. The temps warmed up another 5-10 degrees by noon.

Snowpack

Observed large surface hoar on northerly aspects near tree line. Snow depth in the trees on a NE aspect was 50 cm @ 11,750". Snow was soft and cohesionless almost all the way down to the ground. At ridge top the winds were strong enough to transport a good bit of hard, windblown snow onto NE aspects. A small cornice is starting to form along Gold Hill (see picture).
