Snowpack
Moderate ridge top winds were drifting the loose faceted surface snow and creating small drifts. On a northeast facing slope above treeline that was a few hundred feet below the ridge I dug a snowpit to see the extent of the drifting and reactivity of the drifts over the old weak snow surface. I was surprised to find several inches of drifted snow. It was a sub rib feature that catches some wind. The snowdepth was 100cm which is nearly double most depths in the area but I did experience some cracking in the wind drifted snow and ECTP1 in a stability test about 30cm below the surface.
