Snowpack

I looked at the snowpack on a northwest aspect below treeline. The upper snowpack consisted of recent, faceted storm snow sandwiched between to melt-freeze crusts. This sits over an isothermal snowpack of melt forms that is moist to the ground. There were vertical ice columns present down to at least 55cm above the ground.
