Snowpack
The snowpack is generally about 90 to 100 centimeters deep near treeline. The snowpack consists 60 to 80 centimeters of well-developed facets and depth hoar capped with 20 centimeters of recent snow. Extended Column Tests produced non-propagating results (ECTN 8) at the recent snow/old snow interface 20 cm from the surface. Very few distinct layers can be identified in the facets and depth hoar. Boot penetration is consistently to the ground, with ski penetration mostly 30 to 40 cm and more than an occasional ski penetration to the ground.
