Weather

Clouds increased from FEW to SCT while I was out today. Temps were around 12F, and winds were calm where I was at, although there was plenty of evidence that they were stronger higher in the alpine.

Snowpack

I found a slab that was about 40cm thick below treeline on a northeast-facing slope and a 50cm thick slab near treeline on a southeast-facing slope. I found 40-50cm of basal facets in both pits I dug today. The slab on northeast was softer than on southeast (4F to 1F compared to 1F- to 1F), and I had ECTN results on northeast and ECTP results on southeast--at the basal facet/slab interface on both aspects. No obvious signs of instability in my travels today.
