Weather

Scattered clouds to start the morning with a TH temp of 8F around 0800. There was a large bank of louds to the east. As the morning continued the winds were strong to gale from the NW and the SE. This caused some sweet snow tornadoes of Woods peak. By 1230the winds were softening and the clouds were overcast

Snowpack

Sun crusts under dust on the Sotherlys with most logs not buried. On slopes in the valley the willows are almost buried and ski pole testing showed there is are weak layers near and at the ground with stiffer snow in the midpack. As we neared treeline the there were wind slabs that were hard to edge on interspersed with softer wind affected snow.

Avalanche

Saw a crown on a SE aspect near 12200 ft in a cross getting to the trailhead. And another avalanche that had released from near ridgeline on and E aspect.
